Day 59

"Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints." Philemon 7

Today was a great day. I spent last night at home so I was able to go to Sunday school & church at my home church, which was very nice. After, on the way home, my friend & I stopped at Chili's and ate a huge but very yummy lunch. The weather was pristine and warm considering the time of the year. Putting off homework for a few more hours, we got back to campus, put on shorts and t-shirts and went across the street to the park. It was great fun just being outside in the warmth & sunshine. A few families were outside, too, so we got to play with their kids. So overall it was an awesome day. Now it's time for home work I suppose, but I wanted to show all this picture, it's one of my favorites. :)

Day 58

"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash." Matthew 7:24-27
Yesterday, Saturday 2/27/10, was a pretty good day. I slept in a little bit and went home for my church's annual youth Dinner Theatre (a function to help raise money for the summer choir tour). I took one of my good friends from school with me so we had a lot of fun. The food was good (amazing desserts too) & the show was very cute and entertaining. When I first got to church I knew I still had to take my photo-of-the-day so I was looking around. There was this little tree with a bird's nest in it so I thought I'd photograph it. Amidst other photos, this one actually turned out to be my favorite! :)

Day 57.

"I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I put my hope. My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning."
Psalm 130:5-6
Yay for Fridays! It has been a long, full, & busy week. I'm glad it's over but next week is going to be just like this. Thankfully, my school has spring break the 2nd week of March...I'm so ready for it haha. It was an absolutely beautiful day today....freezing but beautiful. I loved looking at the sky (haha I seem to have picked up the habit of constantly looking up and around me when I walk anywhere...I bet everyone who sees me but doesn't know me wonders some). It always seems to me, whether solid blue or gray that the sky is like a solid dome around us....the buildings just seem to be chiseled into the perfect blue sky. I just love it! :) I didn't get a chance to take pictures outside today but I'm getting sort of tired of seeing the same thing everyday through my lens so I once again resorted to my dorm. I do like this picture for today though. It seems calm and hopeful. Just peacefully waiting for whatever happens next. A nice reprieve in my hectic day. :)

Day 56.

"I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety." Psalm 4:8

Today has been another busy day. I slept until like 8:30 but was going from that point until now. I suppose that's college life & I really can't complain. I didn't have much time to work to take a picture but I think this one turned out alright. It was a beautiful day but it was freezing...I can't wait for summer! :)

Wednesday, February 24, 2010

Day 55.

"You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everybody. You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets or human hearts. " 2 Corinthians 3: 2-3
Today, February 24, 2010 has been a cold, rainy day. It hasn't been exactly bad just full. The weather can't make up it's mind, it's gone from almost warm & sunny to now cold & wet. I like the previous. I saw a couple of photo opportunities outside today but I didn't want to risk my camera getting wet...so I experimented inside today. I wanted to use books as a prop but I didn't know what to add to it until I saw my necklace, & wah lah! Here is my picture for today. :)

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Day 54

"The Lord watches over you - the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm - he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore." Psalm 121: 5-8

Yay! I'm on time today haha. My day is full as yesterday was but I made sure to make time to take pictures. After I got out of choir practice I enjoyed the sun & slight warm walking back to the dorm. The sky is a wonderful blue peppered with clouds...more than I'd like, but fewer than this morning. Here is a picture of the moon along with some clouds. Of course I'd like to zoom in further but alas I cannot so I had to make do by using the clouds as interest in the picture. I am so ready for summer & for sun to take beautiful pictures in. :)

Day 53

"I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. The nations will walk by its light and the kings of the earth will bring their splendors into it." Revelations 22:22-24
Alas I am a day behind in posting again. I have my days full this week but I'm trying not to become too stressed. I took a couple of quick shots yesterday before going to my Grandmother's for supper. This is my favorite of the bunch but it's definitely not my favorite overall. I like the black & white effect but the cropping is annoying me. It was better though than my other pictures though so I'm putting up with it. Today I am going to make myself take a picture I'm happy with...& an outside one at that. :)

Day 52

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16
Yes I know I'm a day behind but I've had a busy past couple of days haha. I did actually plan & take this picture yesterday but I didn't have the time or energy to post a blog about it. I really didn't know what to take a picture of because even though it was a beautiful day, I didn't have time to take a picture during the hours when the sun was high in the sky. I kind of just made an assortment of items I use a lot in my dorm...finding a verse was tough to go along with it...but hopefully you can see scripture as the tools to life, just like these items are tools to my college life. Haha I'm trying to sound deep. :)

Day 51

"Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love." 1 Corinthians 16:13-14

Today was a busy day but also a somewhat relaxing day. I had to wake up before I would have liked because I had to go to work early in the afternoon (I work Preview days for my university). My time at work went good though & when it was over, the day was beautiful and the weather warm. I love the heat of the south & cannot wait for summer to be here :). I was able to go and kick around a soccer ball with my boyfriend for a little bit while it felt nice out. I kind of forgot to take a picture today...well didn't totally forget just forgot while it was light outside. So I came to my desk thinking of ideas for a picture. I decided to position some thumb tacks on my bible. I like how you can see the minute details of the bible case & of the tacks. It's not my favorite picture but it's not bad either. :)

Day 50!

"Teach me your way, O Lord and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. I will praise you, O Lord my God with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever. For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths of the grave." Psalm 86:11-13
I cannot believe that I have been at this project for 50 days. It's just so crazy to think that I am 50 pictures into my 365 project. :) Today I had a class cancelled so it would seem that my day would have been less full but it wasn't...time flew by as fast as it always does. It was such a beautiful day this afternoon, and warm enough to get away without a jacket. Though it was only brief, it reminded me why I love the heat and living in the south. I was going to try and take an outdoor picture because of how sunny it was but I didn't have time and when I did it was starting to get cloudy. So I came into my dorm once again to set up a picture. Today's result is simple, but I like it. I think the colors and shapes and shadows and textures all together make a neat effect. :)

Day 49.

Psalm 23:1-4 "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me."

Today, Thursday February 18th, 2010, has been a pretty good day. Thursdays are my favorite day of the week because it is the only day that I don't have an 8:00 spanish class. I was able to sleep until 10:00! It was awesome! I also have women's choir on Thursdays, which I love, so classes are not bad today. It was an absolutely beautiful day today so I was happy to be able to go outside. I decided to take an adventure today, to get away from campus. My grandfather is buried close to campus so I drove to the cemetery. It took me a bit to find it, but I was happy to finally locate it. I was young when he died so I don't remember much of life with him. I do remember his funeral though, pretty clearly. I know that his gravesite is important to my mother & grandmother so I sent them a couple of pictures I took. I wanted a more meaningful picture today so I hope this meets my hope. I chose this picture, because it only shows pieces of important things but they are important pieces of my grandfather's life. You can see bits of the dates he lived, enough letters to make out that my grandfather was a member of the US air force, and a cross as the main focus to show the importance of church/religion. I'm pleased with this picture today, & at least to me, it means a lot.

Day 48.

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Today, February 17th, 2010, has not been a bad day. It is Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. I thought that I could take on a habit, one to go along with my 365 project. As you see above, I am going to add a Bible verse to every picture I take when I post it. I think it'll be a good way to bring God into my life more & just a good habit to have. :) I told my roommate this & I said I wanted to use a verse over Love because my picture is about "love" and she made the good suggestion of me to use one of the more basic, and famous verses on love. I do really like this verse & I find it very appropriate. So thanks, roomie!
The story behind my picture is this: my university does some really cool stuff (luckily for free) on campus. Like last week we made stuffed animals for Valentine's day & today we made wax hand models. I waited in line with a friend brainstorming what shape to make with my hand. I decided on the sign language word for "I Love You", since I know this sign and have used it a lot with my family. So the process was an interesting one, especially getting my hand out of the wax, but it turned out pretty good & it was a fun experience. =] Now attached to a verse, I extend my "hand" to you.

Day 47.

February 16, 2010. Today is beautiful albeit cold. It has been a very busy & stressful day for me but photography served as a moments reprieve from the stress of college. We have an old chapel on campus, and it is beautiful inside and out. I love going inside because the stained glass windows are just spectacular. I would love to be able to go inside with my tripod at multiple times during the day to see where the light needs to be to make the windows their most beautiful. So I went on a little adventure after choir today. :) Willingham (as it's called) holds school functions as well as basic classrooms. I half expected the doors to be locked, but remembering the fact previously mentioned, I was glad to be able to get inside. I wandered around the lobby for a bit, then went upstairs into the main hall. A door was cracked open, so I went in and was able to get a few pictures. I choose this as my photo-for-the-day because the chairs and floor show reflections of the window that I think make the picture interesting. Though I do like this picture, I would like the opportunity go to inside for a longer amount of time for experimentation. :)

Monday, February 15, 2010

Day 46.

Today, February 15, 2010, started off rainy but ended of to be quite beautiful. I have had a very full schedule but it's been manageable. For my education class I have to do fieldwork, & I started that today. I'm at at church's pre-school program & the church looks pretty cool so that's my picture for today. I wanted to have more time to take pictures, since it's so pretty, but I really don't have more time. So here is the picture of the day...not great, but alright. :)

Day 45 - Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day, everybody! February the 14th of 2010 has so far been very quiet & productive for me. I woke up at around 10:30 and read for homework until about 5:00. I still have some more reading to do but that'll be enough for the time. Since today is a special day, I thought I could theme my picture. I tried different things but I ended up with this picture as my favorite. My grandmother sent me a Valentine's Day card & I saw it sitting on my floor so I figured I could use it as a prop. It's ripped kind of sloppily but I think it fits just right. I wrote "LOVE." on an index card, positioned it in the envelope, & set about framing the perfect shot! I tried it in black & white, too but I thought color turned out better. =] So I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's Day!

Saturday, February 13, 2010

Day 44.

So though I had much opportunity to take snow pictures, & I did, my photo-for-the-day is not loudly saying "snow". I was walking past a tree outside & I saw this squirrel. I didn't have my camera with me (shocker I know) so I ran & got it, only hoping that the squirrel was still there. Much to my relief, it was still sitting in the tree just as before! I took multiple shots quickly, afraid it would disappear. Once I got some that I liked, I stopped, looked up & the squirrel was gone! Luckily though I got some good pictures, because you'll never know if an opportunity like that will come up again. :)

Day 43

Yesterday, February 12th, 2010, was a very cold day. I had heard all week of the possibility of snow in my area so I was hoping that that would actually happen. I was hanging out with my boyfriend in his dorm & I needed to take a picture so I played around with this Hershey's Kiss sitting in his room. I like how this turned out. The colors are neat & the textures are pretty cool too. And it did actually snow! I had a great time taking pictures last night & today. :)

Thursday, February 11, 2010

Day 42.

Today, February 11th, 2010, was a very, very cold day. It was so breezy & just freezing...I thought I was going to start crying before I could get to class because the wind was so strong. Oh well...it'll get warm before too long. I had a very full, busy day so I didn't have much time for pictures. I took this one, of the library, on the way to my education class. So yeah I don't have much time to go into a long, drawn out discussion of my picture today so I'll end now :). Ohh by the way, there is a chance of a snow day tomorrow! I doubt it'll happen but maybe it will. =]

Wednesday, February 10, 2010

Day 41.

Today was freezing cold but beautiful. I was so excited to see the sun, it was wonderful. I unfortunately was either in class or sleeping all day so I didn't have much time for photography. After my piano lesson, though, as I was walking back to my dorm I saw these clouds over the art building. So I thought they looked pretty awesome & snapped their picture. It's not my favorite picture but I wanted to convey my happiness that we finally had a pretty day on campus!! :)

Tuesday, February 9, 2010

day forty

today (february 9 2010) is the fortieth day of the year and the fortieth day of my project. i am starting to get fed up only being able to take a picture inside my dorm room. my lighting even here isn't great & i feel as if i'm running out of things to photograph. if you hadn't guessed today is another rainy, yucky winter day. i am so sick of this weather but i can't do anything to change it i suppose. my stress level is pretty high today so that doesn't help the photography either.

i wanted to take a really great picture today. i keep finding these amazing flickr photographs online & i want to be able to take something as great as they are. so far no luck. =/. anyways i experimented today with different props. the lighting was giving me a really hard time so that wasn't helping anything. my end result isn't what i originally had in mind but that's ok. the shapes & colors turned out interesting i think. so let's hope for better luck tomorrow.

Monday, February 8, 2010

Day 39.

Ah, Mondays. Today, February 8th, 2010, is not different than most Mondays. It's always hard to wake up before 8:00 & go to class to speak another language. I do like Mondays though, mainly because I'm done at 1:00 but also because I get to see a lot of my friends. :)
I wanted to be creative today for my photo-of-the day. I took a photography class online last year & one of the assignments was to set up a picture to tell a story. I can't remember what photograph I ended up taking but I do remember my teacher's photo example. It was either an old journal or letters, that looked worn, set up with gardening gloves, and maybe a pen, on a table of some sort. Ok so maybe I can't remember the details perfectly but I always liked how it turned out. So today I wanted to sort of recreate my own version of this project. I have saved all (or most) of my ticket stubs from either campus activities or trips to the movies. I pilled them up on my desk, tried to arrange them, found some items that fit the movie theme from my room, & wa-la! Here is my final product. Hopefully it all fits together & maybe even tells a story, who knows what it'll mean to you. :)

Sunday, February 7, 2010

Day 38

Today, February 7th, 2010 is the 38th day of my Project 365. I took a lazy day today, sleeping until 11:30 & then watching the special features of the latest Harry Potter DVD. Now I've been reading for classes tomorrow & taking pictures haha. So I really didn't have any idea of what to do for my photo today. I have always seen pictures of colored pencils that I thought looked cool. I don't have colored pencils so I had to resort to my permanent markers. This picture turned out ok in my opinion. I tried to play off of the shadows on the folder & the cup holder. It kind of worked I guess...the glare from my desk lamp gave me some issues but I hope this picture doesn't have too much glare on it. :)

Saturday, February 6, 2010

Day 37.

February 6, 2010. Today is just a lazy Saturday. It's cold outside, though thankfully not raining, & I'm sitting in my dorm working on homework for next week. My picture for today is of my iPod & headphones. I took a picture similar to this back as a senior in high school & I though I would try it again for my photo today. I wanted to take it in black & white and now looking at it, I really like the spectrum on grays and how the main focus is on one of the headphone earbuds. So now that I've taken my picture, I'm back to working on homework. =]

Friday, February 5, 2010

Day 36.

So today is Friday February 5, 2010. I am so glad that it's Friday & that I'm done with classes. This week seemed very long so I'm very much ready for the weekend. Once again, I know - I'm sorry I keep complaining, it is raining today. I am so tired of this weather! It was cold, breezy (at some points windy), & raining a cold rain. Yuck!! Oh well. I'm nice & warm in my dorm now so I'm at least not currently suffering haha. Today's picture was taken inside as many of the recent ones have. I have a perfume bottle that is clear & it was sitting up against something that looked pretty cool this morning so once I got back to my dorm after classes I played around with set up & lighting and ended up with this picture! I think it looks pretty cool so I'm happy with it as my photo-of-the-day. Now it's relaxation time & weekend time. Though I do have a good bit of homework to do, I am going to enjoy my days off of class & maybe even get to go to the movies. :)

Thursday, February 4, 2010

Day Thirty-Five

February 4, 2010.

Today was a cold, breezy, & sometimes rainy day. I feel like we've had so many days like this, I'm very ready for the heat & sun of the summer. So progressively my days are getting less stressed as the weekend approaches. I was so cold outside I didn't want to take the time to wander around finding a picture. So I decided when I was studying in a friend's room I would take my camera with me. I decided to look in her room to find something unique to photograph, since I have looked in my own room so many times. I ended up finding my friends reflective sorority pin box & her roommate's earring holder. Putting the two together ended up with a pretty cool result. So wah-lah: Here is another try at a unique shot since I can't go outside & find something pretty. :)

Wednesday, February 3, 2010

Day 34

Today is February 3rd, 2010. I still forget to say February & 2010 but oh well...hopefully before too long my brain will catch up. :) My day yesterday ended better than it started. I finished the 4 page paper relatively quickly, for just having started yesterday, and was able to go to bed at a half-way decent time. So I had hoped today would be less stressful, & it has, but I still ended up doing a lot more than I had quite expected. It was a beautiful day & I am sad to say I barely had time to notice it. So my creative juices are not strong in my photo-of-the-day. Here is a button from my peacoat. It's not a terrible picture but it's definitely not my favorite. Now I have more homework to do & all I want is sleep....weekend oh weekend, where art thou weekend??

Tuesday, February 2, 2010

day 33

February 2, 2010. Today I have almost written 2009 multiple times; I'm still getting used to fact that it's a new year.

Well today is just not a great day so far. School has been stressing me out & so has life in general. & plus it's rainy outside so I'm just in a sort of gloomy mood. As I sit at my desk in my dorm everyday, I look across my room to the window. My roommate has this bear on the sill & I thought that it kind of looked how I felt. So I photographed it, & no I didn't move the bear it was positioned just like this. Though I'm still not as happy as I normally am, I do like this picture a lot. It has a neat sense to it with good coloring. So I hope you all have a better day than me. :)

Monday, February 1, 2010

Day 32!

Today is February 1st, 2010. One month into my Project 365, I'm loving it. :) I recently bought some new jewelry and wore some of it today. After classes I was trying to think about what to photograph & I thought, why not use my jewelry? So I tried to think of a good backdrop, & I came up with jeans. Denim, along with most fabrics, have a really neat texture when you get into macro. So with a pair of jeans & a necklace, I set to work to find the best picture. I took my laptop off of my desk & put the jeans right under my lamp. Arranging the necklace, then the lighting, then finding the perfect crop was a fun challenge. So ta-dah! Here is my final product. I really do like this picture, something very unique and cool :).
